IBE brings ballet to the Greater Philadelphia community
FREE performances for school children
As IBE marks 20 years of bringing great ballet to the Philadelphia schools and community, please join us for an afternoon of dance (and song) with Wissahickon Dance Academy/IBE alums Jessica Hershberg Fontana, Cynthia Dragoni, Lillian Joergensen, Molly Rooney, Jamie Laughlin, Hannah Kearney, and Michele-Olivia and Coralie François, along with current WDA students and guest artist Yosbel Delgado-Hernandez.
Wednesday, May 30, 2018, 10:15-11:30 a.m.
Northeast High School
1601 Cottman Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19111
This fully staged ballet interprets the passage of the seasons through the Greek myth of Persephone, whose annual journey to and from the Underworld marks the passage of spring, summer, fall, and winter. The Four Seasons provides a wonderful context for studying science (why do we have seasons?), ecology, language arts, geography, and more.
With guest artists and a youth cast from Wissahickon Dance Academy in Germantown, Northeast High School, Blaine Elementary School, and Willard Elementary School, the ballet is performed exclusively for the students of the Philadelphia schools. All educators will receive a free guide to the ballet with pre- and post-performance activities designed deepen students’ experience of this living art.
